I had a great experience with the service team at Sun Toyota this past week, I wanted to let you know.
I had my Camry in for service in January to get warranty painting done, at that time the service team said they would do the paint chip touch-ups at no charge, however this extra was missed when the car was returned to me. I completed a Toyota satisfaction survey (the overall experience was very good) and within a couple of weeks the service manager Scott called me and offered to have me return the car for the paint touch-ups at no charge. When I arrived the service team recognized me by name, provided a loaner car (Prius) and treated me with a high level of courtesy and professionalism. I was kept up to date with the progress (while I had the car in I had an oil change and 60K km checkup, there was a bit of additional no-charge warranty work). When I picked up the car I was given a free paint stick, a Toyota blanket, the car looked great on the outside (all the chips I could see had been very nicely touched up), the car was clean and the inside was vacuumed. What impressed me the most was how the service manager and team took action on a feedback entry and followed up with me to resolve the problem in a timely manner and with a high level of attention to detail to ensure I was satisfied. I was impressed.
I had purchased the vehicle from Sun Toyota in 2011. While I was picking up my car on Friday the original salesman Henry recognized my voice and came over to say hello and check in on me (again I was impressed the salesman would remember me). The service experience was very positive, I would definitely come back to Sun Toyota in the future.”
“This was a very unique situation as I live in Jasper and only had 1 day to come test the car out, purchase it, register it, etc. and drive it back to Jasper. My father (who lives in Windsor, Ontario) was helping to do the research on the car for me which also made the situation a little different. Ashlee ensured that this was a stress free experience, was VERY helpful and responded to his e-mails and our phone calls in a timely manner, providing us with any information we required. Ashlee also went above and beyond by taking the car out for a test drive with a mechanic as per my father’s request to listen for a few things before I got there.
When I arrived in Edmonton, Ashlee had two cars ready for me to try out, she came with me to test the cars and was friendly from the moment I arrived until the moment I left.
After I made the purchase, I was directed to Deepinder who sorted out the financial side of things. He was also very pleasant and made me feel assured that everything was handled appropriately. When I finalized things with him, I had to complete the process for insuring the vehicle. At this stage he allowed me to use the computer and phone in his office and helped to ensure the process went as smooth as possible.

This summer has been a challenging one for me: My 2010 Toyota Prius, which I bought from a relative in the US and imported to Albera in July, turned out to have a recall notice. I only discovered this when I took the car for it’s out of country inspection. I was devastated. I phoned Sun Toyota for support and luckily got Maggie. She was sympathetic, kind, thoughtful, and made the experience much more tolerable. We kept in touch over the weeks that Toyota found and disseminated the remedy. “I just want to write a brief note to make you aware of the effort your Service Advisor went to minimize my frustrations with emergency repair needed (tire replacement due to pothole damage) My car was towed in Tuesday evening and on Wednesday morning I spoke with Jess Baldock who assured me she would do everything she could to have the tire repaired or replaced and my car back in service. Parts indicated a replacement tire could be available by noon and I told Jess I would take a cab to get there (I was waiting at home in the west end).
“Jess responded by sending out a courtesy car. Then the machine in your shop broke down and she arranged to have the car taken to a nearby dealership to repair and return. She kept me advised of the time delays and kept other aware of my need to get to my office. She offered a loaner – but since it was getting closer to completion and a loaner would take more time the next day returning and exchanging for my vehicle – I continued to wait. Jess was extremely apologetic – even though none of this was her fault and she was sympathetic to my situation. The car finally arrived and i made it to my office to do what I needed to do before my meeting. In addition Jess was kind enough to advise me that since I had been put through a longer wait than normal, some consideration of this was applied to my account.

“Had a terrible experience with another dealership that I will not name (why blame the entire place when I only dealt with 3 people). but lets just say I went in to pick up my car with my cheque in hand and walked out in disgust. In comes SUN TOYOTA. (Sales person was Malory) made a quick phone call to the various dealerships to see who 1) had the car I wanted 2) could match the other dealerships price without hassle Left the message with Mallory (she got right back) met all the criteria I needed. This took 2 minutes AND since I don’t live in Edmonton and could not take advantage of the 5 years of free oil and filter change took that value off the price of the car. WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING. Why dealing with sun was so good. 1) Knowledgeable: Quickly went over all the features of both the car and finance. They were clearly aware of every detail of the car and finance and answered all my questions thoroughly. 2) Respect: Information was provided without being “sold” to me. 3) Competence: I was given all of the information I needed and I was still out the door in about an hour and a half with my new car. 4) Many little things were done (AFTER the SALE), like sticky notes in the owners manual to go to the most important pages. OVERALL: I cannot think of anything that could have been done or not done that would have made me trust a car dealership more. These people were building a business not looking for a quick commission. To highlight: On my way to Sun Toyota I was phoned by another dealership and told that they could knock off 200 dollars from the price that SUN promised. I would gladly pay an extra 1% of the price of a new car to deal with people I feel I can trust.”

“We purchased our first Toyota (Camry) in 1998 and we just replaced it with a Prius C. We had all our servicing done at Sun Toyota. We were so satisfied with the car and with the service at Sun that we did not look at other Toyota dealerships nor other kinds of cars when we decided to buy another. We were always treated promptly, courteously, and professionally at the Service Desk, and we were always contacted immediately if the technicians reported anything unusual to the Desk. Service work was done well as far as we could tell, and there was normally a follow-up call a few days later to see that we were satisfied. When we began looking for a new car we met Davis and then Henry with whom we had most of our dealings. Henry was most accommodating and patient with out questions and deliberations. He soon understood our needs and desires and did not push us to upgrade or take options that we did not want. He was a good judge of his potential customers!! He was very personable and friendly and , as far as we could judge, knew the cars well. The location of Sun Toyota was excellent for me; I could leave the car for service in the morning, take public transport to work, and return for the car after work. I was usually offered a ride to work, but that was not necessary. We know of many other people who are pleased with their Toyotas, and several who have been satisfied with Sun. We hope that nothing changes with the new management!”
“I just wanted to tell you about my pre-service experience with Johnny (Service Manager).
My 2005 Sienna AWD due for a major service (144K) that includes changing the timing belt. Frompersonal experience, I know that this type of job will be time consuming and therefore not cheap, so I have contacted all of the Toyota dealers in the Edmonton area to ask about pricing and what is involved in this service.
Other dealers have told me that I am due to change the transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluid and coolant at this service, which according to Toyota Canada is not the case. Some even suggested that the cam and crank seals would require changing!
Only Johnny has been straight forward in answering my questions with honesty and integrity. He has not tried to sell me something up front that is not necessary. When I asked if it would be a good idea to replace the water pump as well, his reply was that they would look at it and let me know if it needed to be done. As a result, Sun Toyota will be getting my business for this service, and if my post service experience is anything like the pre-service experience I have had from Johnny, you will be seeing my van on a regular basis in future! I wanted to let you know what a good impression Johnny has made, something he is to be commended for.
“Our experience at sun toyota was perfect. I had done a lot of shopping on the phone, internet and in person. When I called and reached chad I asked for a price on my matrix. He called back within a half hour and had the best price of all the places i had contacted. I knew that it had to be ordered so I wasn’t bothered by the wait. In fact, it was because of Chad’s knowledge of red tag days that I was able to get 0% financing. Of course he didn’t know the offer was going to be that good, but he alerted me that the special was coming and that my timing could be just right. Well, he hit the nail on the head. I had some after market stuff done as well (tint, undercoat,etc). Everything was done perfectly and ready for me when I picked it up. I have purchased a few cars from dealerships in my years and Chad was awesome. He answered all my questions, gave me the best price in all of Edmonton(and surrounding area), and actually cared about us as customers. “I am writing to commend the exceptional service given to me by Richard Coney, Scott MacPherson and Danny Acuna at Toyota on the Trail.
Here is what Richard, Scott and Danny did for me. Last Thursday, I got a flat tire. I installed the spare and brought the flat to Toyota on the Trail for repair. I left driving on the spare, intending to come back in a few hours to pick up the repaired tire.
Within 10 minutes of leaving Toyota on the Trail, however, while driving on the Whitemud, I got a second flat tire, but this time I had no spare tire to install (the spare being already on the car). It is not pleasant to be stopped on the side of the Whitemud in the winter, with the cars whizzing by and with no spare tire to install.
I phoned Richard Coney at Toyota on the Trail and told him about my predicament. Richard conferred with Scott MacPherson, and the two of them devised a plan to help me out. They quickly repaired the flat I had already dropped off, and then Danny Acuna made a special trip to deliver the repaired tire to me on the Whitemud. Danny and I installed the repaired tire on the car and drove back to Toyota on the Trail to have the second tire repaired.
It is not a good day when you get two flat tires. But I very much appreciate the special service given to me by Richard, Scott and Danny. It made my situation much better than it could have been.
Please convey my thanks to Richard, Scott and Danny. Their innovative actions on Thursday represent the kind of excellent service that Toyota on the Trail is striving to be known for. They have left me with a very positive attitude toward everyone at the lovely new premises at Toyota on the Trail.”
I just wanted to say thank you to your excellent staff for getting me back on the road in a hurry this past Tuesday. I live in the NWT and come down to Edmonton a couple times a year to costco for groceries, and as always I’m on a tight timeline from work. I was on one of these trips this week loading up, and was meeting my wife and baby at the airport the next day. At about 4pm I noticed a broken leaf spring in the costco parking lot. Your dealership was the first one I called, and they had me come right over. Chris Lunden made arrangements with some staff to stay late, and while they got my truck ready to work on, he spent 20 minutes with me calling around to some different spring shops in the city that could do the work. He used some industry connections to get someone who could do the work the next day, and knowing I was stuck from out of town they lent me a vehicle for the evening. I picked up my truck less than 24 hours later with a new heavier set of springs installed. These guys really saved my ass on what could have been a very expensive fix if Id had to taxi around the city and take more time off work. Thats the kind of service you cant put a price on. Chris, Richard Coney, and at least one of your mechanics stayed late to help me out on the Tuesday, so please pass along my thanks to the owner. You guys definitely put the customer first.”
