2017 Toyota Yaris vs 2017 Nissan Versa
For the 2016 model year, Mazda and Toyota rolled out its joint projects – the Mazda2 and sedan version of the Toyota Yaris. They were completely renovated, offering a more stylish and well-equipped subcompact sedan for their respective brands. We thought we’d see how our version of the sedan measures up to one of the segment’s other standouts by comparing the 2017 Toyota Yaris vs 2017 Nissan Versa, which is the sedan version of the more popular hatchback Nissan Versa Note.
Advantages of the 2017 Toyota Yaris
The table up above takes a look at a few important specifications in small sedans like these, and we thought we’d work our way through the table to see the differences between the two vehicles and find out the advantages of each. So let’s start at the top, with city fuel efficiency. For every 100 kilometres driven, the Toyota Yaris uses 7.4 litres of fuel, which is 1.3 litres less than the Nissan Versa. Hop onto the highway and the advantage diminishes to 0.6 l/100km, but combined you’ll still be saving a good amount of change at the pump over time.
The next row might not seem all that important, but it works in conjunction with fuel efficiency. You’re already saving money on gas, and getting more mileage to the gallon. Offering nearly an extra gallon of fuel capacity means a full tank will last you even longer. The next time you take a long road trip, you’re not going to have to stop to fill up nearly as often or early as you would in the Nissan Versa.
The last row things turn in the Versa’s favor, as it offers an extra 3 horsepower more than the Yaris. But is 3 horsepower, which would hardly be noticeable side-by-side, worth giving up the fuel efficiency and capacity advantages that the Yaris offers? That’s up to you. If you think the 2017 Toyota Yaris is the right sedan for you, then make sure you schedule a test drive below.
