2017 Toyota Prius vs 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid
The Toyota Prius is without a doubt the most well-known hybrid vehicle on the market, as it was the first to be mass produced. It continues to be one of the most popular hybrids out there, especially after last year’s overhaul that made it sportier than ever before. But this year, the return of perhaps its biggest competitor has given it a real contender, so we thought we’d see how they measure up to one another by comparing the 2017 Toyota Prius vs 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid.
Advantages of the 2017 Toyota Prius
The table up above looks at two of the most important aspects of hybrid vehicles like these (and the four specifications tied to them): the obvious fuel efficiency, as well as space – which is important regardless of segment or class. We thought we’d move right down the table starting with the first row, which depicts city fuel efficiency.
Although the newest Honda Accord Hybrid is the most efficient ever made, it still isn’t quite as efficient as the Prius. On city streets, the Prius utilizes 0.4 l/100km less fuel than the Accord Hybrid. The second row shows that it also utilizes 0.3 l/100km less fuel on the highway. Neither of those advantages are very big, but you will notice some savings at the gas pump over time.
The third and fourth rows then shift to space, with the third depict trunk volume. Considering the Prius is a hatchback, this might be an unfair fight, but the Prius does nearly double the amount of space you can fill with luggage or groceries or whatever you might need. The final row is the more important of the two as it shows how much space you and your passengers will have in the cabin. Here the Prius once again trumps the Accord Hybrid, this time by 18.4 cu. ft.
