2017 Toyota 86 vs 2017 Honda Civic Coupe
Many people would say that Toyota hasn’t had a real sports car since the always-popular Toyota Supra was discontinued back in 2002. The sportiest Toyota vehicles since they were reserved for the Scion lineup, so when Toyota decided to axe the Scion brand, Toyota’s performance future looked gloomy. Enter: the Toyota 86; the former Scion FR-S, a 2-door coupe that’s lightweight and packed with power. We’re extremely excited to say we have the sports car available here on our lot, and we thought we’d show you just how incredible it is by comparing it to one of its biggest competitors, pitting the 2017 Toyota 86 vs 2017 Honda Civic Coupe
Advantages of the 2017 Toyota 86
We thought we’d go right through the table above to show some of the advantages and disadvantages of each vehicle. While the Honda Civic Coupe is certainly one of the sportiest vehicles on the Honda lineup, its standard engine can’t really hold a candle to the Toyota 86. Our 2-door sports car offers an extra 47 horsepower and 18 pound-feet of torque, giving it a pretty big boost in the performance department.
Of course, one of the unfortunate setbacks to having a performance-oriented vehicle is lacking in other areas that might not seem as important to the sportiness of the vehicle. For instance, the Toyota 86 only offers a trunk that’s 6.9 cubic feet. That’s 5.2 cu. ft. smaller than the Honda Civic Coupe’s trunk, meaning you won’t be able to hold nearly as much cargo when you hit the pavement.
But the 86 swings back with another big performance advantage, this time on the feet. People might not often think to look at a vehicle’s tires, but when it comes to performance vehicles it’s just as important as some of the other aspects. The 86 offers standard W-speed tires, which are meant for exotic sports cars with a max speed of 270 kilometres per hour, while the Civic Coupe comes with H-speed tires, meant for regular sports sedans and coupes with a max speed of 210 km/h.
If the sporty, high-performance nature of the 2017 Toyota 86 has piqued your interest, go ahead and schedule a test drive right here on our website or by giving us a call at the sales desk.
