2016 Toyota Yaris vs 2016 Nissan Versa Note
There are tons of different automobile segments on the market, from trucks to crossovers to sedans and more. Each one is filled with vehicles from a multitude of manufacturers, and the subcompact sedan class is no different. We wanted to compare our entry to another that has been quite popular for the past few years, by pitting the 2016 Toyota Yaris vs 2016 Nissan Versa Note. One thing the Yaris certainly has on the Versa Note is its tenure, as the Toyota subcompact has been around since 1999 while the Nissan is quite a bit newer. But the advantages don’t stop there.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Yaris
In fact, if you look at the table atop this page, there is only one area that the Nissan even appears to have an advantage – but we’re going to change that tune as well. Before that, let’s start at the top of the table by looking at fuel economy. Through the city the 2016 Toyota Yaris operates on 7.2 l/100km, which is 1.4 l/100km less than the Nissan Versa Note. The gap narrows on the highway, but even still the Yaris achieves an economy that is 0.9 l/100km less than its competitor.
That area that the 2016 Nissan Versa Note fires back, however, is horsepower. But the advantage is only be 3 horsepower, which already isn’t very much – and is made even worse when looking at the fact that the Yaris also weighs 140 lbs. less than its rival. So overall, the Nissan Versa note has very little to hold against the Toyota Yaris. In our opinion, that makes it the obvious choice. The pot is only sweetened by the fact that the Yaris offers incredible features like the STAR Safety System, which is only available in Toyota vehicles.
