2016 Toyota Tundra vs 2016 RAM 1500
In the truck market here in North America, there is what has become known as “the big three.” Those are three trucks that everyone automatically thinks of, but here at Wheaton Toyota on the Trail we’re trying to break that mindset. We’re trying to remind everyone that there is at least one other worthy adversary in the full-size, light-duty truck segment: the Tundra. We thought the best way to show our favorite truck’s worth would be to compare it against one of those big three trucks, we decided to stack up the 2016 Toyota Tundra vs 2016 RAM 1500 to see which has the superior specs & features.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Tundra
When we began our research, we weren’t surprised at our findings but some RAM enthusiasts might be. Taking a look at the table above, which compares important truck specifications between the base trim levels of each model, the Tundra dominates the RAM 1500. We’ll go right down the line starting from the top of the table, analyzing each.
Considering each aspect we looked at concerned the power and capabilities of the two trucks, we obviously started with horsepower. The Tundra doesn’t just have a few more horses than the RAM, it has an extra 76 horsepower. That would definitely be noticeable between the two models, as would the extra 132 pound-feet of torque, which covers the second row of the table.
Moving onto capabilities, you might be surprised that the Tundra once again stood tall over the RAM 1500. It can hold an extra 550 lbs. in its truck bed while also trailering an extra 1,130 lbs. behind it as well. Those are both pretty substantial advantages, which in our opinion proves the 2016 Toyota Tundra doesn’t just hold its own, but is far superior to at least one of “the big three” trucks here in North America.
If these advantages are enough for you as well, don’t hesitate to give us a call or schedule a test drive right here on our website. We can’t wait to show you the power and capabilities of our favorite full-size truck in action!
