2016 Toyota Sequoia vs 2016 Chevy Tahoe
The Sequoia has been somewhat of a silent powerhouse for the Toyota lineup. It doesn’t make nearly as many waves in the market as the Camry or RAV4, but it has been a steady seller for the brand since it was introduced in 2000. Full-size SUVs aren’t quite as popular as they once were thanks to the emergence of crossover utility vehicles, but the Sequoia has plenty to offer, as does one of its biggest competitors. We thought we’d take a closer look at the Sequoia and what we consider its strongest segment rival by comparing the 2016 Toyota Sequoia vs 2016 Chevy Tahoe.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Sequoia
As you can tell by looking at the table above, the two vehicles are comparable but the Sequoia is actually stronger in every category we looked at. We thought we’d have a hard time competing with the big-name Tahoe in power, but the Sequoia actually delivers an extra 26 horsepower alongside 18 pound-feet of torque. While it’s not a massive gap, that much of a power difference could certainly be noticeable. But power isn’t the only area the Sequoia surpassed the Tahoe.
The Suburban, Tahoe’s extended-length sibling, is known for its massive amount of space for both cargo and passengers. So again, we weren’t positive the Sequoia would be able to take the Tahoe down, but in reality our Toyota SUV offers an extra 3.6 cu. ft. of regular cargo capacity, and if you drop all those back seats it delivers a whopping 25.4 cu. ft. of extra space. That’s a pretty big advantage!
As we stated, the Toyota Sequoia is somewhat of a silent powerhouse, and certainly isn’t as well-known as the Chevy Tahoe. But if you’d rather have more power and space to play with than a bigger name, the 2016 Toyota Sequoia is the right full-size sport utility vehicle for you.
