2016 Toyota Prius vs 2016 Honda Civic
Toyota and Honda are two of the most recognizable manufacturers on the continent, if not the world, and in our opinion they each have one vehicle that is almost synonymous with the company. With that in mind, considering they’re quite similar to one another, we decided to compare them by taking a closer look at the 2016 Toyota Prius vs 2016 Honda Civic. The Honda Civic has been the best-selling passenger car in Canada for the past 17 years, and the Toyota Prius is perhaps the best-selling hybrid vehicle ever. We thought we’d put their similarities to the test and see who came out the victor.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Prius
As you can tell by looking at the table above, we think it might be the Prius, although to be fair it depends on which aspects are important to you. If you’re even slightly considering a hybrid vehicle, then fuel efficiency is probably important to you. While the Honda Civic is extremely efficient for a non-hybrid vehicle, it can’t compete with the hybrid Prius. In the city the Civic achieves 3.2 l/100km less than the Prius, and 1 litre less on the highway. Of course, on the flip side, the Honda Civic undoubtedly delivers more horsepower and a sportier ride.
But is a sporty ride and a boost in power worth sacrificing that much fuel efficiency, as well as quite a bit of space? The Prius is a hatchback delivering 24.6 cubic feet of cargo room, and the Honda Civic has a 15.1-cubic-foot-trunk that can’t quite compete. As for the cabin, the Prius delivers more space for you and your friends or family to stretch out and get comfortable in as well, delivering an extra 4.8 cu. ft. of passenger volume.
If you’d rather go with efficiency and space than a bit of power, then the 2016 Toyota Prius is the right vehicle for you. Be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website or give us a call with any questions if you think you agree.
