2016 Toyota Corolla vs 2016 Chevy Cruze
The Toyota Corolla is one of the oldest vehicles available on the Toyota lineup, but that doesn’t mean it’s old. That might not seem like it makes since, but in the automotive world it does! The Corolla was originally introduced in 1966 but it has gone through ten generational overhauls, the latest of which was just in 2013. So even though it’s been around for a long time, it’s still pretty new.
We thought we’d see how it measures up against an even newer vehicle however, by comparing the 2016 Toyota Corolla vs 2016 Chevy Cruze. The Cruze was originally introduced in 2008, 42 years after the original Corolla, and it just entered its second generation this year, so it’s pretty fresh.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Corolla
The normal specifications that we look at in these comparisons aren’t the only important aspects of a compact sedan, so we thought we’d use this instance to take a look at some of the other areas. Of course, we still included passenger volume as that’s one of the most important aspects of any vehicle, and in this specific case the Corolla wipes the floor with the Cruze as it offers an extra 17 cubic feet of space for you and your friends or family to stretch out and get comfortable in. That’s a huge advantage, as a compact car is small enough as it is, so ever extra inch of space means less cranky passengers.
Moving onto some of the areas we don’t normally look at, the Corolla offers a 60/40-split folding rear seat which is becoming more and more important in sedans. If you have something you need to bring home from the store but it’s too long to fit in the trunk, you need to pop the back down. But the back seat of the Chevy Cruze would have to completely fold flat, meaning you’d lose both rear seats. In the Corolla, you can fold one flat and still have a passenger sat in the back. And speaking of the rear seat, taller passengers will certainly be more comfortable thanks to 5.4 extra inches of rear leg room.
Lastly, the Corolla also offers a slightly bigger gas tank in the way of 0.6 gallons, meaning you won’t have to stop for fuel nearly as often. All of these advantages to combine to make a more convenient vehicle, and if that makes it the right choice for you be sure to come in and take one for a spin yourself.
