We've been talking a lot lately about the host of all-new vehicles Toyota just recently announced ahead of and at the New York International Auto Show, but one vehicle we've hardly even mentioned is the hybrid version of our favorite compact crossover, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. While many things are the same between the gas-powered RAV4 and the RAV4 Hybrid, there are obviously several differences, so we thought we'd take a look at the specs & features that are specific to the Hybrid.
Powertrain

Obviously, the main difference between the standard RAV4 and its hybrid counterpart is the powertrain. Contrary to previous iterations of the two crossovers, the RAV4 Hybrid does, in fact, use the same Dynamic Force 2.5L 4-cylinder engine as the gas model. But, of course, it's tethered to the Toyota Hybrid System II and a continuously variable transmission. This combination should lead to an impressive combination of power and efficiency, though exact specifications haven't yet been announced.
XSE Hybrid
The other big difference, not just between the two models but between last year's RAV4 Hybrid and the all-new version, is the introduction of the premium XSE Hybrid. In a surprising twist, it is the sportiest RAV4 model available. It offers a host of normally available options as standard features, as well as sporty design cues both inside and out. It also comes standard with one of the new two-tone exterior paint schemes, pairing the black roof with one of four new exterior colors (Blizzard Pearl, Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Grey Metallic, or Blueprint - which is a brand-new color).
