A couple of months ago, we touched again on the special edition 2018 Toyota RAV4 Trail model. Optimized for off-road travel, the RAV4 Trail takes everything that is great about the traditional RAV4 and tosses in several upgrades geared towards making it not only more capable of tackling the road less traveled, but look like it’s ready to as well. We thought we’d just take one more close look at the RAV4 Trail to give you a better idea of the specs & features that the compact crossover has to offer.

Design Enhancements
In the RAV4 Trail, many different aspects of the vehicle both inside and out have been upgraded with unique design cues. The scuff plates on the Trail model’s doors are unique to it, the halogen headlamps feature black bezels while the fog lamp surrounds are black as well, the all-weather floor mats and cargo mat feature unique Trail badging, while the interior trim panels are unique to the model as well. Finally, the Trail offers a leather-wrapped shift knob and 18” five-spoke black alloy wheels that are unique to the model as well.
Upgraded Features
As for upgraded features, we’ve already mentioned some of them in the design section: halogen headlamps, fog lamps, all-weather mats, and larger wheels. Additionally, the RAV4 trail offers R-speed tires, over-fender flares, retuned- suspension, a 120-volt/100-watt outlet in the cargo area and the Tow Prep Package. The package includes an upgraded radiator and additional coolers for engine oil and transmission fluids.
Improved Specs
As for improved specs, only one thing really changes and that’s towing capacity from the included Tow Prep Package. The RAV4 Trail is capable of towing 3,500 pounds in addition to its regular payload.
