With 2016 coming to a close, it’s time to get ready for the new year. For those in Edmonton, what better way to ring in 2017 than by going to a New Year’s Eve celebration. Here are some of our favorite upcoming New Year’s Eve 2016 events near Edmonton, AB.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks & Canada 150 Kickoff
Celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation by coming to the City Hall & Churchill Square New Year’s Eve party in downtown Edmonton, AB. The event is free and fun for the whole family, offering kid’s activities, magicians, balloon artists and live music from Uptown and the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The main activities at City Hall will take place from 6-10:30pm, while the main stage entertainment will start at 9pm. There will also be two fireworks shows, with one at 8:30pm and one at midnight to celebrate 2017.
New Year’s Eve Festival in Strathcona County
Strathcona County is hosting their New Year’s Festival with plenty of activities for everyone, including ice skating, bobsled racing and shinny hockey. There will also be two sleigh rides running throughout the night. The event will last from 4-8pm, but the festival will be capped off with a fireworks show at 8pm. The event is free and the sleigh rides cost $1 per person.
World Waterpark’s New Year’s Eve Beach Ball
The World Waterpark in the West Edmonton Mall is hosting their 26th annual New Year’s Eve Family Beach Ball. Guests will be treated to a magician, balloon artist and a DJ, as well as getting to enjoy the park’s indoor wave pool and waterslides. The countdown to 2017 will conclude with a spectacular indoor fireworks display. Tickets available after Christmas will cost $30 for a single person and $150 for a family of four.
