How does Eco Drive work?
After last week’s look into the new TNGA manufacturing style, we figured we’d keep things up by looking at another Toyota-specific feature. So for this week’s How’s This Work, we’re going to take a look at Toyota’s Eco Drive, which is feature that has to do with fuel economy. In today’s automotive market, fuel efficiency and economical driving are some of the most important aspects in a vehicle, so Eco Drive is definitely a great feature to have.

What is Eco Drive?
Plenty of manufacturers on the market have added some sort of Eco Mode that adjusts different things within the vehicle to maximize efficiency, or at the very least some sort of digital indicator that shows how efficiently the vehicle is being driven. Toyota’s Eco Drive encompasses both of those ideas by including an Eco Mode button and the Eco Drive Indicator.
By pressing the Eco Mode button, the vehicle automatically reduces throttle response and adjusts the air conditioning so that it doesn’t drain the engine power as much. Both of these things work together to improve fuel efficiency. Then, the Eco Drive Indicator can be turned on by pressing the Display button.
Your digital multi-information display has multiple different screens, and pressing the Display button will eventually get you to the Eco Drive Indicator. This indicator looks like a bar, and it will change based on your driving methods to show you how efficient you’re driving. You can watch the video below to get an even better idea of how the Eco Drive Indicator works and what it looks like.
