The third generation of Toyota’s always-popular, 3-row midsize crossover the Highlander kicked off in the 2013 model year, and this coming model year it will finally get a refresh. While it isn’t being completely remodeled, like the 2016 Prius was last year, there are plenty of new updates and enhancements to get excited about. Not the least of which is the brand-new, sporty SE trim level.

“We’re updating style, adding safety, improving performance and efficiency, and offering a whole new and very sporty SE grade model to our popular Highlander – what’s not to love? The Toyota Highlander and Toyota Highlander Hybrid lineup is a popular choice for Canadian families on the go, and we’ve made it an even better choice for 2017.”
– Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc.
Upgrades & Enhancements
The most obvious changes are on the exterior, where the styling was updated and modernized to look even sleeker than pervious iterations. But perhaps the most exciting changes are the upgrades to the equipment and technology found throughout the vehicle, both inside and out. Some of these upgrades include 5 total USB ports, Toyota Safety Sense P, rear seat seatbelt warning system, LED headlamps and more.
2017 Toyota Highlander SE
The SE is a brand-new trim level for the 2017 Highlander that provides a sportier option. Taking everything available in the XLE AWD trim level, it adds a sportier exterior aesthetic – including unique 19” black alloy wheels, a unique grille and black-painted roof rails – and enhancements on the inside as well. Furthermore, it comes with an exclusive exterior color called Salsa Red Pearl.
