In case you’re still looking for things to do over October long weekend, we’ve got a list of some of the best 2016 Thanksgiving Events in Edmonton AB and the surrounding area, so read on and find something fun to do for the weekend!
Devon Turkey Chase
If you’re up for a bit of a drive, then the actual Monday morning or Thanksgiving you can head to Devon for the annual Devon Turkey Chase. At 9:00 a.m., the 10km race starts, at 9:15 the 5km race kicks off, then at 9:30 the 5km family & kids’ races will kick off with plenty of great prizes and incentives. Other activities include the Mountain Climber in Search of the Yeti Scavenger Hunt at 10:30, a pumpkin carving contest at 11:30 and a pumpkin pie eating contest at 11:40.
Of course, always one of our favorite activities over October long weekend is the UP+DT music festival. Up and Downtown Music Fest is a huge gathering of over 100 local Canadian musicians playing 18 venues over three days. Big acts this year include Tokyo Police Club, Basia Bulat and White Lung. Venues include Winspear Centre, The Needle and Freemasons Hall plus many more. You won’t want to miss this incredible festival!
Sunday Brunch at Fort Edmonton Park
Finally, one of the simplest and most relaxing things you can do over Thanksgiving weekend is hit up one of the many Sunday Brunch at Fort Edmonton Park sittings on October 9th. With brunches occurring every 30 minutes starting at 10:00 a.m., with the final brunch starting at 12:30, you can enjoy a host of different types of foods in the morning and then head out to for a relaxing stroll around the park once you’ve finished eating.
Whatever you decide to do with your October long weekend, we simply wish you the best this holiday season. Have a happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Go Toyota on the Trail!
