2017 Toyota 86 Performance & Engine Specs
Earlier this year Toyota decided to discontinue the Scion brand, but you’ve probably heard about this by now. The news everyone was really clamoring for in the wake of that announcement was what would happen to all of the vehicles no longer being created by Scion. The brand might not have been performing as well as Toyota wanted, but several vehicles developed quite a following here in North America, including the Scion FR-S.
Now, the 2017 Toyota 86 has arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited about what it has to offer. So let’s take a look at the sports car’s performance & engine specs to get a better idea of what it has to offer.
Engine Specs
Beneath the hood of the brand-new 2017 Toyota 86 rests a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. You might’ve been hoping for a larger engine, but this little 4-cylinder still delivers 200 horsepower with the automatic transmission, and 205 with the manual, alongside 151 (158) pound-feet of torque. 200-205 hp is quite a lot for a little sports car like the Toyota 86, especially considering it only weighs around 2,800 lbs.
Other Performance Specs
The engine might be the most important feature when it comes to performance, but there are plenty of other features found throughout the 2017 Toyota 86 that enhance its performance even more so. For instance, the 86’s suspension features MacPherson Gas Struts up front and Double Wishbone Type in the rear. As evidenced by its engine specs, the 6-speed manual transmission is better suited to enhance performance, but the 6-speed automatic also features Dynamic Rev Management to enhance performance. Things like its rear-wheel drivetrain, VSC, TRAC, Limited Slip Differential and ventilated disc brakes only make things better.
We’re excited to finally be able to offer the brand-new 2017 Toyota 86 right here at Go Toyota on the Trail. Be sure to schedule a test drive or give us a call fast as we assume the new sports car will leave the lot pretty quick.
