Technology Coming to the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime
Not too long ago we filled you in on the newest addition to the Toyota Prius family. A couple of years ago, there was a fourth option in the family, called the Prius Plug-in. Since that model left the lineup, there hasn’t been a plug-in hybrid available from Toyota at all. Next year will see its return in the form of the brand-new 2017 Toyota Prius Prime. We cannot wait for the new model for many reasons, but one in particular is because Toyota promises plenty of awesome new technology coming to the model.

“Say hello to the most technologically advanced hybrid in the world… the Prius Prime. We gave it the name Prime, because it represents the best: the best hybrid MPG, the best driving range and the best MPGe of any plug-in in the world.”
– Bill Fay, Vice President, General Manager, Toyota Division, Toyot Motor Sales, U.S.A.
Intelligent Parking Assist
Perhaps the most appealing new technology coming to the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime is that Intelligent Parking Assist system, or IPA. It is a new feature similar to the many driver-assistive safety systems found in today’s vehicles, as it will utilize sensors and cameras to not only find a parking spot nearby but also steer it into the space. And we’re no longer talking about just parallel parking, as IPA will also assist with perpendicular spots.
The new Prius Prime will also deliver an incredible infotainment system, with a massive 11.6-inch high-definition display audio screen at its core. In addition to the impressive screen, you can opt for the Premium JBL feature, which adds an audio system featuring 10 JBL GreenEdge speakers, Integrated Navigation system, HD Radio, SiriusXM with a 3-month trial and Gracenote album cover art. The system also provides Bluetooth capability, Siri Eyes Free, and a USB 2.0 port with iPod connectivity.
Other great features include wireless cell phone charging for Qi-compatible devices, a 4.2-inch multimedia display in the dashboard and a full-color head-up display as well. These extra improvements are just the beginning, and we assume the brand-new version of the Toyota Prius will offer many more outstanding technologies when it arrives for the 2017 model year. Be sure to keep checking back for more updates on the brand-new 2017 Toyota Prius Prime.
