“Toyota Connected will help free our customers from the tyranny of technology. It will make lives easier and help us to return to our humanity. From telematics services that learn from your habits and preferences, to use-based insurance pricing models that respond to actual driving patterns, to connected vehicle networks that can share road condition and traffic information, our goal is to deliver services that make lives easier.”
– Zack Hicks, CEO, Toyota Connected, Inc., CIO, Toyota Motor North America
The quote above comes directly from the man in charge, and we think it sums up what Microsoft Toyota Connected is going to be pretty well. Essentially, the company has two goals in mind. The first is to provide services that are both seamless and contextual, while the second is to provide product development support to customers, dealers, distributors, partners and anyone else they can imagine by utilizing the newest analytics technology available.
What will it do for us?
The partnership between Microsoft and Toyota is essentially looking to change the landscape of how we drive. We’re not talking about flying cars or autopilot, but vehicles will be able to talk to each other and other technologies to provide the best experience to drivers everywhere. For more examples of what it will do for drivers like us, watch the video below explaining the future Toyota has in mind.
We’re very excited about some of the ideas that Toyota has, and can’t wait to see them implemented over the next several years! Keep your fingers crossed that these things happen sooner than later, and keep your eyes peeled for more information as Toyota Connected, Inc. begins their work!
