2016 Toyota Camry Specs & Features
Back in 1982, Toyota introduced a little compact sedan called the Camry. While every automotive manufacturer out there hopes their vehicle will be successful when integrating it into the market, Toyota couldn’t have imagined the level of success their Camry would reach. After more than three decades, seven generations and an upgrade to the midsize segment, the 2016 Toyota Camry has become one of the most popular vehicles – let alone midsize sedans – in North America. We thought we’d take a look at some of the specs & features the newest Camry offers, in an effort to show you precisely why it would make a great choice for your next car.

By any measure, the Toyota Camry stands out from the crowd in the midsize sedan market. For 2016, we’re pleased to offer Canadian drivers another reason to love Camry, with the SE Special Edition – available in limited quantities – as well as enhancements to the standard equipment on several models to deliver even more value.”

There are generally four specifications we consider more important than any others: power, fuel efficiency, cargo capacity and passenger volume. We’re going to start out by taking a look at those, to give you a sense of exactly what you’re getting from the 2016 Toyota Camry. The Camry has two different powertrain, a 2.5L 4-cylinder or a 3.5L V6. The standard engine delivers 178 horsepower alongside 170 pound-feet of torque while achieving an impressive 9.7 l/100km city, 6.9 l/100km highway. But the more powerful option delivers 268 hp alongside 248 lb-ft. of torque, at a nearly-as-impressive 11.0 l/100km city, 7.7 l/100km highway.
Either engine delivers an even blend of power and fuel economy, the choice falls to you whether you’d prefer the edge in power or a more efficient vehicle. Whichever engine you choose, you’ll have the same amount of space in the cabin and trunk, which fortunately the Camry offers plenty of. In terms of cargo capacity, the 2016 Toyota Camry offers 15.4 cu. ft. which is right around the average for midsize sedans, if not a bit bigger. That’s plenty of space to fit a suitcase or two, and you can drop the back seats forward to open up if you need a bit more. And lastly, with an interior volume of 118.1 cu. ft. there is plenty of room for you and your passengers to get comfortable in.
While analyzing specifications is pretty easy to do considering the four we find most important, features are a little more difficult. Vehicle’s today are packed with them from bumper to bumper, on the inside and out, so it’s difficult to pinpoint which are the most important to cover. The Toyota Camry has features that enhance convenience like Push Button Star or entertainment like the multi-speaker display audio system.
But if we had to pick one aspect to focus on, we’d probably consider safety features the most important today, and the 2016 Toyota Camry is packed full of them. Whether talking about the back-up camera, the standard 10 airbags or the multitude of driver-assistive safety features found in the Star Safety System, the Camry delivers confidence to anyone sitting behind the wheel.
