Remembrance Day 2015 in Edmonton AB
Remembrance Day is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start looking at how you can honour veterans on this important day. Remembrance Day is a day used to remember the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November and there are many ceremonies and events that pay tribute to those who have served and continue to serve. Today we’re going to take a look at some 2015 Remembrance Day events in Edmonton AB.
City of Edmonton Butterdome Remembrance Day Service
The service for this event will be held 11 November 2015 from 10 am – 12 pm at the University of Alberta Van Vilet Centre. It is open to everyone and it is a way to pay our respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in Canada’s past conflicts. Attendees are requested to be seated by 10:10 am.
Remembrance Day at the Alberta Aviation Museum
Another Remembrance Day event is being held at the Alberta Aviation Museum. It will start at 10:30 am and is hosted by the Ex-Air RCAF Alliance. It is also supported by 700 Wing RCAF Association and the Alberta Aviation Museum. The museum is located at 11410 Kingsway Edmonton, Alberta.
Beverly Memorial Cenotaph Remembrance Day
This event is Edmonton’s oldest cenotaph ceremony and it will begin once the military parade arrives around 10:50 am. It takes place at Beverly Memorial Cenotaph at 40 St. at 118 Ave in Edmonton, Alberta.
Another simple way to recognize Remembrance Day is by wearing the traditional red poppy. Every year The Legion hosts the Poppy Campaign. People donate to support the services The Legion provides and in return they receive a poppy. The poppy has become a symbol of Remembrance Day and a pledge that we will never forget those who have served and continue to serve.
These are just a few of the ways you can honour our veterans this Remembrance Day. Join us here at Wheaton Toyota on the Trail in thanking our service men and women and pick up a poppy for Remembrance Day here at our Edmonton AB location. We encourage you to participate in any or all of these activities.
