Crossy Road Tips and Tricks
We all remember the time not too long ago when people were screaming in agony over the impossible app, Flappy Bird. Well the latest app game to infect phones and tablets is Crossy Roads. Luckily, it isn’t nearly as frustrating, but it’s just as addicting. The easiest way to explain it, is that it is a game of infinite Frogger. There is so much more to this little indie game than that. To get you started, here are a few Crossy Road tips and tricks to get you on your way to being a road crossing master.
1. Watch out Watch out!
This game demands your full attention. Your eyes always have to be on the screen to get the best high score. If you take too long to make a move, a mutant eagle will carry your character away, thus ending the game. There are many obstacles to avoid so if you want to be serious, lock yourself in a room and don’t look away!
2. Stay in the Middle
It might not seem like it at first, but the screen isn’t infinite. There are hazy white lines at the edges so if you are on a log in the river and you don’t jump off in time, you’ll cross the line and end your current round. Your best bet is to stay in the middle whenever you can.
3. Ignore the Coins!
Don’t get me wrong, coins are important for getting new characters, but it will definitely impact your score if you try to get them all. You only have five seconds before the dreaded eagle comes so moving from side to side to get coins isn’t practical. If you want coins be prepared to get low scores for those rounds.
4. Tap Carefully
Throughout the game there are points where it is easy to hop across 10-15 spaces without worry, but once you get over confident, trouble will appear. Make sure you don’t get overzealous with your jumping or you’ll end up face first into a semi.
5. Catch em All!
The best part of this game is all the different available characters you can play with. While the different characters don’t make the game any easier, they sure make it more fun. For example, the Poopy Pigeon… well you guessed it, when you stay still for too long he’ll poop. There are also characters that change the background, like the penguin who changes the environment to a winter wonderland. The game also references outside characters, like the popular Doge meme. When you unlock this character, his signature comic sans comments appear everywhere. While this can be distracting, it is also hilarious.

Here at Toyota on the Trail, we love seeing car related games becoming so popular. Maybe Crossy Road will encourage you to buy a new vehicle like a 2015 Toyota Camry or 2015 Toyota Corolla.
