April is “Distracted Driving Awareness” month, and Toyota has partnered with Teen Vogue to encourage teenagers to “arrive in style” and become more aware while driving.
51% of teens surveyed have said that they search their iPods or other portable music devices for songs, and nearly 30% admitted to reading text messages while driving. 12% also claim that they check social media sites like Facebook and Twitter while driving and even post updates on the road (University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute). Distracted drivers are 3 times more likely to be in a crash than attentive drivers (Alberta Transportation) and distracted driving is a factor in about 4,000,000,000 motor vehicle crashes in North America each year.
Arrive in Style is asking teen girls to take the pledge with a parent to avoid distracted driving, because “safe driving never goes out of style.” To join the movement, read more here!
